Leonellha Barreto Dillon

Facilitator

Leonellha has been a SSP trainer since the launching of the methodology. She was one of the first to train on SSP, in the framework of the Resource Recovery and Safe Reuse (RRR) project, supporting entrepreneurs in Lima, Bangalore, Hanoi and Kampala in assessing the health risks posed by their RRR systems. Leonellha has conducted several SSP trainings for the WHO, including the 2015 Asia SSP course for key stakeholder in Calcutta, India, the 2017 SSP training for Container Based Sanitation Organisations in Richmond, UK and the Sanitation Safety Planning Workshop for the pan-European region in 2019 in Bonn, Germany. Currently, Leonellha is collaborating with the WHO in the updating of the SSP manual and training package. Leonellha is currently supporting the Resilience Waters Program with the implementation of SSP in Polokwane, South Africa. Leonellha has 18 years of experience in the sanitation sector and holds a Chemical Engineering Degree, a Master Degree in Environmental Engineer, a Certificate of Cooperation for Development and a MBA in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development.

Sophie Boisson

Sophie Boisson is a technical officer in the Water, Sanitation, Hygiene and Health Unit at the World Health Organization in Geneva. Her work includes supporting the implementation of the WHO Guidelines on Sanitation and Health and sanitation safety planning, estimating the burden of disease attributable to sanitation and WASH more broadly, and strengthening sanitation interventions for control of WASH-related diseases.

Kate Medlicott

Coach

Kate Medlicott is the Sanitation and Wastewater Team leader within the WASH team at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. In this role Kate is responsible for translating evidence to policy and practice through WHO guidelines and health sector collaborations where sanitation is a critical components of disease control. Kate is one of the authors of the Sanitation Safety Planning (SSP) manual and the WHO Guidelines on Sanitation and Health. She oversees promotion, implementation and learning on SSP and the guidelines globally.
